CPSC warns owners to stop using about 393,000 Tristar Power Quick Pot pressure cookers; no recall offered

October 15, 2026· Recalls of building materials and fitted appliances

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the lid on the 6-quart Power Quick Pot pressure cooker can open while pressurized, and the importer has refused to recall or repair the units. Owners of model Y6D-36 are urged to stop using them.

On October 15, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a product safety warning (No. 27-030) about the Power Quick Pot 6-quart pressure cooker, model Y6D-36. About 393,000 units are affected.

CPSC says the lid can open while the cooker is under pressure, which can expel hot contents. The agency has received 24 reports of this happening, with serious burn injuries.

The cookers were sold at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, eBay.com and other U.S. retailers from about July 2018 to November 2023, for roughly $44 to $160. The model number is on a label on the back of the unit.

This is a warning, not a recall. CPSC states that the importer, Tristar Products, Inc. of Altamonte Springs, Florida, has not agreed to recall the cookers or offer any remedy. The agency says owners should stop using the cookers immediately and dispose of them, and should not sell them or give them away.

For homeowners and contractors who handle kitchen appliances, the practical point is that there is no manufacturer repair, refund or replacement program attached to this notice, so the usual warranty or recall remedies described for other products do not apply here. The cooker is made in China, according to CPSC.
