DR Power recalls about 42,860 walk-behind trimmer mowers over fire hazard

October 8, 2026· Tools

The CPSC announced a recall of DR Power Pilot and Premier trimmer mowers because grass and debris can ignite. It affects owners and landscaping or property-maintenance crews who bought them from hardware stores.

On October 8, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of DR Power Equipment Pilot and Premier walk-behind trimmer mowers. The agency says grass and debris can build up in the machines and catch fire, creating a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burns.

About 42,860 units were sold in the United States and about 340 in Canada. The firm has received 19 reports of the mowers catching fire, including two reports of minor injuries described as blisters on the hands and feet.

The recall covers all serial numbers of eight models. The Pilot models are T4X1076DMN, T4X1076DMNR, T4X1076DMNSD, T4X1176DMN, T4X1176DMN-1 and T4X1176DMNR. The Premier models are TR43076DMN and TR43076DMNR. The machines are orange and black, carry the DR Power logo on the motor and frame, and are labeled Premier or Pro on the side of the frame.

They were sold from November 2022 through July 2026 for between $380 and $550. Sales channels included Ace, TSC, Bomgaars, other home improvement, hardware and independent power equipment stores, and drpower.com.

The CPSC says owners should stop using the mower right away and contact DR Power for a free repair kit. If an owner is not comfortable installing it, DR Power will arrange free installation by an authorized dealer. The notice does not say what the kit contains, and it does not mention refunds or replacements.

Contractors and property crews that keep this equipment on job sites can check the model label on the frame against the list above. Owners can reach DR Power at 800-854-3194 on weekdays, by email at recall@drpower.com, or through drpower.com/recalls.
