Snow Peak recalls about 100 Takibi propane fireplace inserts because lava rocks can explode
Snow Peak is recalling Takibi propane insert model ST-332-US and its lava rocks after a report of the rocks exploding when heated. About 100 units were sold on Snowpeak.com in July 2026 for around $350.
On October 8, 2026, CPSC announced a recall (No. 27-021) of the Snow Peak Takibi propane insert, model ST-332-US, which is used with the Pack & Carry Fireplace L (ST-032) and XL (ST-034), together with its lava rocks. About 100 units are involved.
According to CPSC, the lava rocks can ignite and explode when heated in the propane insert, creating burn and fire risks. The firm received one report of lava rocks exploding and one report of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
The products were sold on Snowpeak.com in July 2026 for about $350. The model number appears on the packaging and in the user manual.
Owners should stop using the insert and lava rocks right away. They can choose a full refund with a prepaid return shipping label, or keep the insert and receive replacement lava rocks. CPSC says the insert should not be used until the replacement rocks arrive.
The product is a portable, fuel-burning heating appliance, so it is not a built-in fireplace, but the notice is a useful reminder for homeowners who use propane fire features to confirm the model number against the recall.
